Do you find you find yourself thinking continuously about multiple projects at one time? Do you want to be working on them all at the same time?!! I do! I tend to start a project and never really see it through to the finish. I can get quite close… but never really complete one thing fully.
Well. I have been told by my husband that I am supposed to pick one thing at a time and go from there. I can’t promise that! I mean COME ON… SQUIRREL!!! That is NOT how my mind works. So you may see multiple projects going on at one time. Only time will tell. But I do promise to try to finish things. Eventually!
Over the next little while I have some projects in my house that I am dying to work on and share with you. I have my list ready to go.
My first project is a big one.
I am planning on redoing my entire laundry room. It is in desperate need of a makeover. I’m hoping I can take this…
… and turn it into a whole new level of laundry awesomeness!! Laundry awesomeness… Is there really such a thing? Who here thinks laundry is AWESOME???
When we first moved in to our new place about 5 years ago I needed to have a space to set up my scrapbooking room. I didn’t want to be all the way in the basement, on my own, in the dark with no one around. I just wanted to be somewhere bright and around people but also in my own space. That’s where the laundry room comes in.
You’ll notice in the picture above that on one side I have my washer and dryer and on the other there was room to put my small table and some organizational cubes. Plus my husband and my father in law put in a counter top over the washer and dryer so that I could pile it with lots of crap. There is absolutely no hope of hanging or folding laundry in this room.
Wow. What a freakin’ mess! The maid must have been off that day!
I fit. Just barely. And I could close the pocket door if the TV or my family was driving me crazy. Actually truth be told my husband loved to close the door on me. He thought it was funny me working away in this tiny laundry room.
It has worked for me over the years but now I need it for more important things. Like vacuum cleaner storage and hanging and folding laundry. What a weird concept hey? Folding and hanging laundry in your laundry room. WHAT ??!! All these years and I didn’t realize the full potential of a laundry room. Huh.
Yes, we used to cart it around and fold it elsewhere. And all the wet clothes that needed to be hung were in my closet. Not good when you have teenage daughters. Somehow they go in looking for their sweatshirt and come out wearing your pants, shirt probably even my socks… Come to think of it… I am missing some underwear!
Just kidding the dogs probably have that. (Those of you with dogs understand…)
I would also love to have my ironing board in the laundry room. Right now it lives beside the vacuum cleaner… in my bedroom. Ahhh… the romance of this room hey? Bet you are all dying to see my mad decorating skills in this room. I can throw an ironing board and vacuum in a master bedroom and Make. It. Work. Every woman’s dream!!
NOPE. The master bedroom will be a project for another time. Shudder… I don’t even want to think of that room right now.
But it would be nice to get this stuff out of there so that I don’t have to wake up to the sound of my husband ironing his shirt. One would think that shouldn’t be a very noisy thing to do, however, until you have heard the painful cries of the small aliens living in my iron, you can not possibly know what I am talking about. Seriously! I have never heard anything so sad.
So this is where I am at right now. Cleaning out the room to start fresh.
Again… not sure where the maid was??
I have thought a little about the direction I wanted to go and I knew that grey walls with white accent was where I would start. Didn’t realize I was going to add colour to it until I was in a showhome and saw the cutest GIANT clothes pins hanging on the wall. I had to have them. I took a peek at the back to find out they were a Michael’s item!! When I got there though, being that they are seasonal, they had very limited supply. I wanted black but could only get a blue colour. So I thought, hey, I could just paint them! But, like I had mentioned in my spring post, I am trying to incorporate more colour into things. So these blue clothes pins became my inspiration for the colour in this room.
Aren’t they the cutest GIANT clothes pin EVER!! Not sure yet where they will go or what purpose they will serve. Only time will tell.
So next week I will hopefully have painted and got some cabinets on the walls. Please check back to see the progress. And maybe I will throw in some painting tips for you as well.
